About the role

As a Functional Tester within the Products Payroll & Reward BE Tribe, you will play an important role in the quality, reliability, and legal compliance of three business-critical applications: the Bedrijfsleiderstool, SportsPay, and Finbox.

You will join the AA team: an international product team that jointly develops and manages these three applications. You will work closely with your fellow developers, business stakeholders, payroll, and domain experts. English is the daily language within the team.

The applications support various users and processes:

• Bedrijfsleiderstool helps accountants simulate and manage the payroll for company directors.
• SportsPay supports Belgian sports clubs in managing compensation for athletes, trainers, volunteers, and association workers, among others, with attention to fiscal and legal obligations.
• Finbox centralizes financial and legally required documents for accountants and their clients.

In this role, you will first build in-depth knowledge of the applications, their users, and the underlying processes. You will analyze requirements, develop test scenarios, perform functional and regression tests, and investigate deviations before changes are released to customers and colleagues.

Depending on your experience, development, and interest, you will have the opportunity to gradually take on more tasks of a Functional Analyst. This includes clarifying business needs, developing solutions, writing and refining user stories and acceptance criteria, and guiding functionalities from idea to production.

This is therefore an interesting role for someone who sees quality and testing as a strong foundation but also wants to grow into functional analysis at the intersection of business, legislation, and technology in the long term.

Responsibilities

• You will work closely with developers, the Product Owner, and payroll and domain experts to translate customer needs into reliable solutions.
• You will actively contribute your relevant domain knowledge during refinement, planning, reviews, and other meetings, for example, on payroll, accountancy, Belcotax-on-web, or sports compensation via SportsPay.
• You will analyze user stories, processes, and business rules and make unclear expectations concrete.
• You will translate requirements into clear test scenarios and test new functionalities and changes before release.
• You will check whether calculations, workflows, business rules, and legal requirements have been processed correctly.
• You will ensure that existing functionalities remain reliable through regression testing.
• You will investigate deviations and production problems, clearly record findings, and follow them up until the solution has been retested.
• You will monitor the quality of the entire chain, including integrations, and contribute ideas for smarter processes, a better user experience, and a stronger testing approach.
• You will gradually grow into functional analysis. This includes learning to:
  • structure business questions and define the scope clearly;
  • develop functional solutions, user stories, and acceptance criteria;
  • investigate impact and dependencies, and follow functionalities from analysis to production.

The combination of functional knowledge, critical thinking, testing, and collaboration is important, as the team is responsible for the entire product lifecycle, including development, testing, monitoring, maintenance, and continuous improvement.

Personal Competencies

• You preferably have 3 to 5 years of experience in functional testing, software quality, or a similar role.
• You are analytical, accurate, and investigate deviations until the cause is clear.
• You critically question requirements and working methods and translate complex information into clear, achievable solutions.
• You take responsibility, work independently, and collaborate smoothly in an international team.
• You communicate fluently in Dutch and English.
• Knowledge of relevant domains such as accountancy, taxation, and Belcotax-on-web is essential. You are willing to deepen your knowledge in this area.
• You are curious about digital processes and want to grow into functional analysis.
• Experience with SQL, Azure DevOps, AQT, Ranorex, Selenium, APIs, integrations, or test automation is a plus.
