We are looking for an engineer with practical experience in geospatial data, road graphs, and/or routing algorithms.
Important: this is not a classic ML Engineer / Data Scientist position. We do not consider candidates without Geo ML experience.
Responsibilities:
- Development and optimization of routing and route planning algorithms (VRP, TSP, routing with time / weight / zone constraints);
- Working with geodata: geocoding, map matching, building isochrones, ETA calculation;
- Designing and optimizing road network graphs, working with routing engines (OSRM, GraphHopper, Valhalla, or equivalents);
- Analyzing and improving routing quality metrics: ETA accuracy, route efficiency, transport / courier load;
- Building ML models on top of geodata: predicting travel time, demand by zone, optimal order distribution;
- Working with large volumes of geospatial data (PostGIS, H3/S2, GeoJSON), query optimization;
- Conducting experiments, A/B tests, and iterative improvement of algorithms on real data.
Mandatory requirements:
- Experience in solving Geo ML tasks
- Strong practical experience in geoanalytics and/or routing: VRP/TSP, routing engines, working with map data (priority requirement);
- Proficient in Python, experience with geospatial libraries (GeoPandas, Shapely, PostGIS);
- Understanding of graph algorithms (Dijkstra, A*, contraction hierarchies, etc.);
- Experience working with ML on tabular / spatial data: feature engineering, model quality assessment;
- Proficient in SQL, experience working with large datasets;
- Ability to work with noisy and incomplete GPS / track data;
- Experience deploying solutions to production;
- Experience with OSRM / GraphHopper / Valhalla / OpenStreetMap
