Software Engineer — Teletype

At Querify Labs, we work with technology companies on the design and implementation of complex data infrastructure systems. Our engineers contribute to projects involving query processing, storage engines, distributed systems, and analytical infrastructure.

We are looking for experienced software engineers who enjoy solving hard systems problems, diving deep into internals, and building complex software from first principles.

Our Engineering Approach

Our engineers primarily work with Java and C++, though we are not tied to any specific language or technology stack. We value strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to select the right tools for the problem at hand.

We leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to accelerate research, prototyping, implementation, and code exploration. We view AI as a force multiplier for experienced engineers rather than a replacement for engineering judgment, system design, or deep technical expertise.

We actively study open-source systems, academic research, and production architectures to make informed engineering decisions.

You Will

• Design and implement core system components
• Investigate performance bottlenecks and scalability challenges
• Analyze open-source projects and research papers
• Write technical design documents and validate ideas through prototypes
• Participate in architecture discussions and code reviews
• Work closely with experienced database and distributed systems engineers

You Have

• Strong knowledge of algorithms and data structures
• Solid software engineering experience in Java, C++, Rust, or another systems-oriented language
• Interest in databases, query processing, storage engines, or distributed systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to understand complex technical trade-offs and communicate them clearly
• Curiosity, ownership, and a desire to learn new technologies

Nice to Have

• Experience with databases, query engines, storage engines, or distributed systems
• Experience with concurrency, parallel algorithms, or performance optimization
• Experience with big data technologies and data processing systems
• Contributions to open-source projects
• Research publications, conference talks, or technical writing
