HVAC Engineer

Compensation: 41 – 50 USD per hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units, split systems, package units, air handlers, exhaust systems, and associated controls. Diagnose and replace HVAC compressors and major system components. Recover refrigerant, perform leak detection, evacuate systems, and recharge equipment in accordance with EPA regulations. Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC and building mechanical systems. Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and control-related HVAC issues. Perform repairs in-house whenever possible to minimize equipment downtime and service costs. Monitor and maintain building automation systems (BAS) and HVAC control systems. Respond to service requests and emergency equipment failures. Support the operation and maintenance of building engineering systems, including plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and life safety equipment. Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment documentation. Coordinate with vendors and contractors when specialized repairs are required. Ensure compliance with all safety standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.

Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Minimum 3 years of commercial HVAC experience. Strong experience replacing HVAC compressors and major mechanical components. Extensive hands-on experience recovering, handling, and charging refrigerants. Proven ability to diagnose and repair commercial air conditioning systems. Experience operating and maintaining building mechanical systems within commercial facilities. Knowledge of HVAC controls, electrical troubleshooting, and mechanical systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
