Studio Design Engineer
As a Studio Design Engineer, you will become part of our early-stage team, collaborating closely with founders and senior leaders to transform industrial design concepts into production-ready products. You will own the engineering of visible surfaces from concept through manufacturing, ensuring exceptional quality, functionality, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
- Transform industrial design concepts into manufacturable components by developing robust B-side engineering for A-class surfaces, including wall thickness, ribs, bosses, fastening systems, clips, draft angles, and parting strategies.
- Maintain the integrity of product surfaces throughout the engineering process, balancing design intent with manufacturing constraints while ensuring high standards of continuity, radii, highlights, gap and flush quality.
- Develop parametric CAD models, create prototypes, prepare physical mockups, and validate fit, finish, and assembly through rapid design iterations.
- Select appropriate materials and manufacturing technologies, including polymers, metals, coatings, and production processes, considering aesthetics, structural performance, cost, and user experience.
- Build and maintain knowledge of qualified materials, manufacturing partners, and production capabilities.
- Act as the bridge between Industrial Design and Mechanical Engineering, guiding components through DFM reviews, prototyping, tooling, and production while ensuring both engineering performance and design excellence.
