Senior Data Architect (Azure)

Looking for Senior Data Architect (Azure) Location: NO Ukraine-based candidates Engagement: Full-time / Contract

Tech Stack: Azure Data Platform: Azure Synapse, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure SQL/SQL Server Processing: Databricks / Lakehouse architecture, ETL/ELT, batch & incremental processing Data Modeling: fact tables, dimensional/star schemas, data warehouse Languages: Python, SQL, Scala Governance: data governance, security, access control, compliance in Azure

Responsibilities:

• Own and design overall Azure data platform architecture (end-to-end)
• Design scalable data architectures for unstructured data and varied file formats
• Build and optimize data pipelines, models, and warehousing structures
• Define both tactical (quick wins) and long-term target architecture
• Produce detailed architecture documentation, diagrams, technical recommendations
• Lead ETL/ELT framework implementation ensuring data quality & compliance
• Integrate new data sources and enforce data governance standards
• Communicate architecture decisions to both technical teams and business stakeholders

Requirements:

• 4+ years of hands-on Azure Data Platform experience (must be recent)
• Proven architecture ownership - designed and owned Azure data platforms (not just pipelines)
• Strong Databricks experience with lakehouse architecture
• Experience with Azure Synapse, ADF, Data Lake, Azure SQL
• Data modeling: fact tables, star/dimensional schemas, analytical model optimization
• Batch processing, incremental processing, incremental refresh
• Ability to assess when Azure SQL vs ADF vs Synapse vs Databricks is the right fit
• Works independently, handles ambiguity, delivers tangible output fast
• English C1
