Junior/Middle Graphic Designer
📖 Foreword
Hey there, my name is Pavel! I'm the founder of Murph Capital. After ~7 years in VC (mostly in IR), I started a new media + community layer for the new generation of VCs and LPs. Think something closer to TBPN / a16z New Media, but fully focused on capital allocators and VC fund builders. We've grown to ~15k across Substack, LinkedIn, and X, with regular viral reach. We’re backed by Harmonic, Rings AI, and Cura, and we host private investor events with Sydecar and Rho.
🌍 Location: Remote.
⏰ Employment: 40 hours per month.
💸 Salary: Depends on skill level, targeting the junior/middle range.
🛠️ Responsibilities
General
- YOU NEED TO HAVE A TASTE – maintain a sharp aesthetic sensibility for what's happening across the industry and bring that perspective to our work.
- Create data visualizations, infographics, and charts that distill complex financial concepts into clear, compelling visuals.
- Design covers for our Substack newsletters — each one should feel editorial, distinctive, and on-brand.
- Design event posters, speaker cards, and promotional materials for our community events.
- Assist with pitch decks and investor presentations – clean, minimal, and visually sharp.
- Create social media assets for LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and other platforms – both recurring formats and one-off campaigns.
- Actively use AI tools and image generation models (Midjourney, DALL-E, etc.) to accelerate output and push creative boundaries.
Other / Bonus
- I'm currently looking for a part-time graphic designer to bring our design to the next level and help build world-class visual identity for the most discerning finance professionals in the world.
- Ability to create complex, editorial-style covers and hero visuals.
- Comfortable working with copy – can write or refine headlines, captions, and short-form content alongside visuals.
- Full-stack design skills:
- Ability to work with no-code website builders like Framer — update pages, build landing pages, or experiment with layouts independently.
- Basic understanding of web layout and front-end principles (HTML/CSS) — enough to implement or prototype designs without developer support.
📇 Requirements
- STRONG VISUAL TASTE – a clear understanding of what looks good and what actually performs.
- 1–3 years of experience in content or brand graphic design.
- Ability to work independently: you receive a brief and deliver results – no hand-holding or micromanagement needed.
- Be proactive: suggest new ideas, formats, or tools that can improve workflow, content performance, or brand visibility.
- Deep passion for visual design – not just doing it for a paycheck, but because you can't not design.
- Genuine interest (or curiosity to learn) about venture capital, startups, and finance.
- Excellent written and spoken English — you can write in a natural, authentic, and engaging tone.
- Extreme attention to detail — punctuation, formatting, and structure matter to you.
- Process-driven mindset: you love to plan, organize, and operate from a clean to-do list — everything should run like a Swiss watch.
- Proactive and fast: able to prepare content well in advance, but also jump in urgently when things change.
