Tech Lead required for a DEX platform (Crypto)
About the Company:
An ambitious DeFi startup. Funded for 3+ years of operation.
We are building a next-generation decentralized perp-DEX on Ethereum (zkSync L2).
▪️ Your Area of Responsibility:
- Architecture of trading / risk / liquidation / oracle systems
- Designing the boundaries between on-chain / off-chain components
- Architecture of Ethereum <> zkSync rollup interaction
- Scaling the protocol as liquidity and the number of traders grow
- Architectural solutions for adding new markets, instruments, and liquidity types
▪️ Main Tasks:
- Form a holistic product architecture: what we are building, which domains and modules the system consists of, where the responsibility boundaries lie.
- Describe the development path from MVP to a scalable protocol: stages, dependencies, risks, and checkpoints.
- Finalize architectural artifacts: diagrams (components / sequence / data flow), documentation, and decision-making principles.
- Design security at the level of system architecture, its boundaries, and processes.
- Form a threat model: which assets we protect, who attacks, and where the main risk vectors are (on-chain, off-chain, oracle, infrastructure).
- Define trust boundaries: critical components, acceptable failures, and key reliability assumptions.
- Configure roles and authorities: governance, admin operations, emergency access, and procedures.
- Implement fail-safe mechanics: kill-switch, circuit breaker, emergency mode, rollback scenarios.
- Design secure integrations: oracle-security, RPC trust model, rate limits.
- Establish security by design principles: principle of least privilege, service isolation, secure perimeters, and a maximally conservative approach for the critical core.
The project involves designing the following components: perpetual trading engine, risk & margin system, liquidation engine, oracle layer (price feeds + failover), liquidity layer (LP / AMM / hybrid models), order execution architecture, zkRollup interaction (Ethereum <> zkSync), off-chain services (indexer / relayer / risk monitoring)
▪️ Will be a Major Advantage
- Experience architecting DeFi or trading systems.
- Understanding or hands-on experience with perpetual derivatives protocols.
- Familiarity with the architecture of protocols like dYdX, Hyperliquid, Lighter, Aster.
- Experience with high-load trading infrastructure.
- Understanding of safety practices: limits, stop-mechanics, roles, and access.
- Experience preparing for security audits and working with auditor recommendations.
- Experience in technical leadership: team synchronization, making architectural decisions, mentoring engineers.
▪️ Conditions
- From $5000 and up. The final amount is discussed individually and depends on experience and skills.
- Official employment with an international company.
- Fully remote.
- Payment in cryptocurrency twice a month.
- Paid probationary period.
- Full time, 5/2 schedule.
- 28 days of vacation per year.
- Birthday bonus / possible premium payments.
- Signing of an NDA.
- Russian-speaking team.
- Direct work with the CEO and key stakeholders.
- Fast decisions and a high level of influence on the product.
Our Expectations:
In the first month of your work, we expect the formation of the architectural "skeleton" of the protocol, defining the system's key components and clear boundaries between on-chain and off-chain logic. It is necessary to describe in detail the interaction between Ethereum, zkSync, and external services, as well as to finalize the principles for making technical decisions and managing risks. The result will be a solid foundation upon which all further development of our L2 solution will be built.
In 3–6 months, we expect a stable and scalable architecture that will withstand the launch of the MVP and the growth of functionality without rewriting the core. A culture of conscious technical compromises will be established in the team, and clear responsibility boundaries will allow new engineers to reach full capacity as quickly as possible.
