Looking for a strong DevOps/SRE engineer to join the core team. Task #1 is to master Ceph for us: we are launching a new direction (self-hosted cloud/hosting), and this is the only area where we have zero expertise ourselves. But this is not a "come only for Ceph" situation: initially, the main focus will be Linux administration and networks on servers in different locations, monitoring, etc. – Ceph will be integrated as the direction matures.
Looking for a long-term commitment – all our employees have been with us for years; we've been building a living, working product since 2017.
By the way: we come from the ISP background in Russia, so we perfectly understand this context – when one person in the office was cutting VLANs, fixing billing, pulling cables, and managing the network simultaneously, just because there was no one else. If this resonates with you, there's a high probability we'll get along.
What's important: • Real production experience with Ceph (or Rook/Ceph) – not "deployed in a lab" but actually lived with it in production; • Confident Linux and networking at an advanced level: iptables, routing rules, debugging network issues manually, not just through ready-made tools; • Willingness to dive into someone else's stack – to understand our infrastructure specifics, not just apply standard practices; • Independence and ownership: if something breaks, you don't wait for a ticket "where to run," but figure it out and fix it; • Relocation already handled, working outside of RF/RB.
From us: a small team, high autonomy, direct impact on infrastructure. No rituals or regular calls. Full remote. Compensation is open for discussion.
I'm looking for one person for the long haul, not a stream of candidates – so please send an intro first. If you know an engineer among your acquaintances who is exactly the kind of person you would invite to your team, please introduce us :) Reposts also help a lot. And if this sounds like you – write a couple of lines in a private message: what's the most unpleasant incident with Ceph (or its absence) you've had to deal with.
