Senior Go Developer at VK, Moscow
The VK Communications team is responsible for security keys and message delivery for the entire ecosystem. We are building a unified verification service (SMS-Gate) that will replace a 15-year-old system written in Perl. We are also developing VKCM – a transport for Push notifications that delivers millions of messages to Android devices.
You will not only create but also scale the architecture, set standards, and lead a team of 14 people.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement service architecture: SMS-Gate, VKCM, and others
- Migrate logic from Perl to Go, maintaining stability and reliability
- Implement complex verification cascades (SMS, Mobile ID, Telegram, Flash calls, etc.) to optimize conversion and costs
- Configure observability (metrics, alerts, logs) using VictoriaMetrics and Grafana
- Conduct code reviews, mentor developers, and implement quality standards
- Optimize CI/CD, reduce technical debt, and improve development processes
- Participate in planning and managing the technical backlog
- Work with external partners (operators, vendors) as needed
Requirements
- Three to five years of commercial development experience in Go
- Experience designing distributed systems under high load (Highload)
- Deep understanding of PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kafka (including working with partitions, replication, and delivery guarantees)
- Ability to configure metrics, logs, and alerts
- Team leadership or mentoring experience (desirable)
- Ability to defend technical decisions with arguments
- Ability to work with legacy code and make improvements without losing stability
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to new requirements
Will be a plus
- Experience with Push services or telecommunication protocols
- Negotiation skills with technical partners (telecom operators, vendors, etc.)
