Senior Platform Engineer – API Gateway

The Innowise team is expanding and looking for a Senior Platform Engineer – API Gateway 🔗 — an engineer who will work on service interaction architecture and the development of platform solutions.

🌍 English — B2 | German — a plus

This role is for someone who is interested not only in writing code, but also in influencing how modern systems are designed, scaled, and integrated ⚙️

🎯 Our expectations:

• Broad technical expertise across Application Development, Cloud Infrastructure, Networking, Security, and Platform Engineering.

• Experience building or contributing to Internal Developer Platforms, Developer Portals, Platform Engineering capabilities, or Shared Cloud Platforms.

• Hands-on experience with API Gateway / API Management solutions (Kong, Apache APISIX, Envoy, AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management, or similar) and a strong understanding of API Security, Authentication & Authorization, Traffic Management, Rate Limiting, Resilience, Service Discovery, and Observability.

• Strong engineering background in Java/Kotlin, API Design, Cloud Platforms, Containers, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD.

• Ability to work with incomplete requirements, evaluate technical solutions, create prototypes, document trade-offs, and present recommendations to both technical and business stakeholders.

• Experience working in Agile and cross-functional teams, strong ownership mindset, and excellent communication skills.
