QA Engineer (Manual & Automation) - iOS, Android, Web

ArtWorkout is a mobile app for learning to draw on iOS and Android. It helps everyone - from complete beginners to passionate artists - build creative skills through structured courses and daily practice.
We ship updates every week and run many A/B experiments through feature flags. We are looking for a QA Engineer with a strong focus on automation across iOS, Android, and Web. Manual testing remains an important part of the role - especially for canvas, in-app purchases, experiments, and device-specific edge cases - but the main contribution we expect is building and maintaining reliable automated coverage, integrating it into CI/CD, and reducing regression load before releases.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain UI/E2E automated tests across iOS, Android, and Web using the right tools for the task, such as XCUITest, Espresso, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, or Maestro.
- Cover smoke, regression, and critical user journeys; use page or screen objects, stable locators, reliable waits, and practical approaches to flaky tests.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD and keep the suite useful for weekly release decisions.
- Perform risk-based manual testing where automation is not practical or sufficient: drawing canvas and WebView behavior, FPS, stylus and Apple Pencil input, undo/redo, in-app purchases, subscriptions, push notifications, and complex feature-flag or A/B combinations.
- Validate weekly release-candidate builds through TestFlight, Google Play Internal Testing, and Web staging using the automation suite plus targeted manual checks.
- Investigate, reproduce, and prioritize issues reported by users through Support; review production crashes and technical signals in Crashlytics and Sentry.
- Decide what should be automated and what should remain manual, and maintain lightweight test cases, scenarios, regression coverage, and risk assessments.
- Work closely with iOS, Android, backend, product, and design teams to surface risks early and protect release quality.
What We're Looking For
- 2-3 years of QA experience with mobile and/or Web products; hands-on test-automation experience is required.
- Proven experience writing, maintaining, and debugging production UI/E2E tests in at least one stack: XCUITest, Espresso, Playwright, Cypress, Appium, or Maestro.
- Experience with iOS, Android, and/or Web; a strong background in two of the three platforms is acceptable.
- Understanding of page or screen objects, stable locators, waits, and flaky-test diagnosis.
- Experience running automated tests in CI using tools such as GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Fastlane, Gradle, or Xcode Cloud.
- Practical use of AI tools in QA for generating or refactoring tests, analyzing logs and crash reports, triage, and documentation.
- Ability to choose independently what to automate and what to leave manual.
- Basic Git skills and experience reviewing test code.
- Understanding of device and browser fragmentation, including OEM skins, SDK and OS versions, screen sizes, and performance differences.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and confidence advocating for quality in a fast weekly release cycle.
- English B1+.
Nice to Have
- Experience testing subscriptions and in-app purchases with StoreKit and Google Play Billing.
- Familiarity with feature-flag platforms such as GrowthBook or Firebase Remote Config and combinatorial testing.
- Experience testing drawing, creative, graphics-heavy, or other performance-sensitive products.
- Familiarity with network-debugging and mobile-diagnostics tools such as Charles Proxy, Proxyman, Postman, Logcat, or Xcode Instruments.
What Success Looks Like
- Weekly releases are predictable, with critical user journeys covered before launch.
- Automated coverage grows where it meaningfully reduces regression risk and repetitive manual work.
- Platform-specific, device-specific, and feature-flag interactions are caught before production.
- User-reported bugs and production crashes are triaged quickly and with enough evidence for the team to act.
- Test documentation stays useful and lightweight instead of becoming shelfware.
