Hitchcock Michalski is looking for a freelance Book Designer. This is a hands-on role focused on a flagship print project, so we’re looking for someone who really understands editorial design and how books are actually made.

You’ll be responsible for the overall interior layout and pacing, typography, cover and packaging design (including things like slipcases or special finishes), and helping us get the files print-ready. You’ll also need to be comfortable advising on paper, binding, and production details.

What we need:

• A strong portfolio of published high-end books, art books, or luxury monographs
• Excellent eye for layout, type, and white space
• Solid InDesign skills and real print production experience
• Ability to work smoothly with our team (Cape Town / remote, SAST hours)
