Job Description
iOS QA Engineer Intern - Testing the Workouts App on the Apple Platform
We are developing digital products that help people take care of their physical and emotional well-being. Martspec has been on the market for 6 years, growing organically, fundamentally not taking borrowed money and not depending on investors. This allows us to make the product the way we see it — honest, useful, and without corporate fuss. Now we are looking for an enthusiastic intern or a beginner QA Engineer (tester) for our iOS application "Workouts" (Body Workout). It's important to be upfront: since we are growing exclusively on our own funds, we do not offer starting compensation.
Work on a Real Product, Not "for the Drawer": This is not a sandbox and not made-up scenarios. You will be testing an iOS 26+ application that is used daily by real people during workouts. Bugs you find will be fixed, and the product will improve, allowing you to proudly add this case to your resume.
Meaning and Impact: Your work is not just about pressing buttons. You will be defending the user experience. If you are interested in understanding how the product behaves in real gym conditions and how to make it as convenient as possible — you will like it here.
Calm Development Without Burnout: We have no investors demanding impossible metrics by the end of the month. We are for a thoughtful approach, quality, stability, and meticulous process control.
Mentorship: You will not be left alone with complex bugs. We will help you understand iOS testing processes, show you how to interact correctly with development, and provide that crucial commercial experience that is often lacking at the start of a career.
We need a person with a sharp mind and attention to detail. Passive waiting for step-by-step instructions doesn't work here — automated testing and AI exist for dry algorithms. We expect you to suggest improvements, explore the application's behavior in non-standard situations, and not be afraid to ask questions when you get stuck.
Gym Workout Experience (Critical ❗): You actively engage in gym workouts, fitness, strength training, or cardio. You understand the user context firsthand: you know how inconvenient it is to enter data with tired hands, why a rest timer is needed, how critical response speed is when the app is in the background, and synchronization with headphones/watches.
iPhone with iOS 26+: Ability to download and test builds on the current operating system version.
Basic Understanding of QA Processes: Understanding the differences between functional testing, UI/UX testing, regression, and smoke tests.
Ability to Describe Defects Clearly: Clear formulation of steps to reproduce, expected, and actual results.
Attention to Detail: Meticulousness in checking layout and logic, the ability to notice bugs and minor UI flaws before they reach the user.
Responsibility: Readiness to complete checks and honestly report if something is wrong or if a task cannot be reproduced.
Openness to Feedback: Ability to perceive comments on bug reports as a growth opportunity, not as criticism.
⚠️ Important: This is a starting position (unpaid practice for 1–3 months). The role is focused on gaining practical experience and creating real cases for your portfolio. There is absolutely no guarantee that it will extend beyond the initial period or become a paid position. We also do not issue any certificates or documents. We do not require any documents, passports, etc., from you.
Fully Remote and Flexible: No strict hours, you can test at any convenient time (including during your own workouts). The result is important, not the "online" status.
Asynchronous Communication: Convenient chats, calls — only as needed, usually once every 1-2 weeks. A large part of the team is in the East, about a 6-hour difference from Moscow.
Life is Life: If you need to step away for a few days — that's absolutely normal. The main thing is to inform the team in advance.
Meaning and Impact: You will work in a friendly atmosphere and create a product that directly impacts people's sports results and health.
We want to see your attentiveness, testing logic, and how you think. The task consists of two parts.
Download our application "Workouts" (Body Workout) from the Apple App Store. Conduct a small exploratory testing session. Try creating a workout, adding exercises, using the timer, or other functions.
Find one defect (bug) or, if there are no bugs, a clear UI/UX deficiency (something that is inconvenient or illogical from the perspective of a user in the gym).
Describe this finding in the form of a professional bug report (or improvement ticket), as if you were creating a task for a developer. Use the standard structure: Title, Steps to reproduce, Expected result, Actual result.
You notice that the application periodically "crashes" (closes) when finishing a workout, but it happens sporadically — about 1 time out of 5. You cannot reproduce the bug with clear steps from the first try. Describe your specific steps before writing to the developer. Write the exact text of the message you would send to the team chat.
We do not look at formal age, diplomas, or "empty spaces" in your resume. Only applications with completed test tasks are considered.
