We are looking for a Soft Goods Designer to join a European company developing next-generation AI-powered robotic systems. As an early member of the team, you will work directly with founders and senior leadership to define the textile and soft-material aspects of our products, taking concepts from initial prototypes through to mass production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop textile-based components for robotic products, balancing durability, functionality, serviceability, and user-friendly aesthetics.
- Create and refine prototypes using a variety of materials, including knitted fabrics, woven textiles, bonded constructions, technical laminates, and other performance materials.
- Build both physical and digital prototypes through pattern development, rapid iteration, and full-scale mockups to validate design concepts.
- Define the Color, Material & Finish (CMF) strategy for all soft components, selecting materials, finishes, and combinations that support both product performance and brand identity.
- Establish and maintain a network of qualified textile suppliers, manufacturers, and material libraries.
- Work closely with manufacturing partners to optimize designs for production, supporting sampling, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and production readiness.
- Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers on rigid-to-soft interfaces and with Industrial Designers to ensure seamless integration between hard and soft product elements.
