I run △Ark, an artificial life studio building Unreal Engine worlds with agent ecologies and motion capture performances. I'm looking for a senior designer to be both a tutor (~1 hr/week teaching me Illustrator at $50/hr) and an ongoing collaborator on paid project work ($50/hr.) — primarily screen output: graphics for characters and robots, posters, fictional corporate marks for in-world factions, UI overlays, some web.

The aesthetic I work in:

• Designers Republic / Wipeout-era — fictional corporate identities, technical readouts, registration marks, dense info layouts, the "this UI belongs to a future company" feeling. Reference points: tDR, Kosuke Kawamura, Cold War Steve, the whole Wipeout/F-Zero universe.
• Esoteric / theory-fiction diagrams — CCRU and Nick Land-adjacent publications, alchemical and Kabbalistic plates, occult schematics, network diagrams that read as both technical and ritual. Black backgrounds, white-line illustration, collage of historical engravings.
• Sci-fi character + product framing — Ash Thorp, Maciej Kuciara, the editorial overlays that turn a 3D render into a fictional ad or recruitment poster.

Across all of it: high contrast, mostly dark backgrounds, single punchy accent color (red, neon green, magenta), grids and technical scaffolding over minimalism, dense and information-rich.

Required: senior-level Illustrator chops.

Ideal: Substance Designer / Painter, or any Unreal Engine experience, you are a fine artist and/or have experience with speculative/theoretical branding.

Our projects tend to be very slow paced, but are also pretty richly detailed and artistic.
