Which Teams We're Hiring For
SberLinux
SberLinux OS is a family of modern RPM-based distributions developed within Sber Group to address server and container computing tasks using advanced containerization and virtualization technologies.
Pangolin DB
Our team develops its own DBMS based on open-source PostgreSQL, with increased requirements for data security, reliability, availability, and maintainability.
In addition to the DBMS itself, we develop product deployment and update tools, a graphical DBMS management console, and a wide range of utilities and extensions. The product is Sber's target DBMS and is currently used in over 500 automated systems, comprising more than 25,000 active installations.
Synapse API Mesh
We are developing Synapse Service Mesh — a new integration platform based on Istio. It's a cloud-based solution for service integration and migration, designed to handle millions of requests. The platform consists of high-load components and is used for integrating numerous banking services.
One of the key development directions is our own build of Envoy Proxy, used as part of the Service Mesh. Within this area, we develop native C++ extensions for Envoy: filters, HTTP traffic processing mechanisms, and work with metadata, metrics, configuration, and diagnostics.
Responsibilities
Senior C/C++ Linux System Developer (SberLinux)
- Creating a proprietary RPM-based server distribution.
- Creating a proprietary distribution for container workloads.
- Developing system utilities for GNU/Linux systems.
- Developing a proprietary distribution build system.
- Building/debugging RPM packages.
- Debugging binaries/scripts included in the distribution, finding system-level bugs.
- Writing auxiliary scripts in Python/Bash.
- Analyzing dependencies of various system packages.
- Performing static (SAST) and dynamic (DAST, fuzzing) analysis of source code.
- Understanding the general principles of GNU/Linux system internals.
- Understanding the general principles of containerization/virtualization/isolation.
- Knowledge of basic algorithms and data structures.
- Knowledge and experience in developing with native/scripting programming languages.
- Using build systems.
- Knowledge of version control systems (Git).
C Developer (Pangolin DB)
- Analyzing requirements, designing, and implementing new functionality by modifying the PostgreSQL core, Patroni, pgBouncer, PostgreSQL extensions, and implementing various utilities.
- Making architectural and technical decisions collaboratively with the team.
- Participating in code reviews.
- Proficient in ANSI C.
- Knowledge and understanding of DBMS fundamentals: data structures, MVCC, ACID and BASE principles.
- Ability to bring code into compliance with standards, document it, and cover it with regression tests.
- Possessing high engineering discipline and a responsible attitude towards code quality.
Key Skills:
- ANSI C, PostgreSQL, data storage/processing systems, encryption.
C++ Developer (Platform V Synapse API Mesh)
- Independent development and support of C++ components (custom HTTP/network filters) for Envoy Proxy.
- Designing the logic for filtering, routing, enriching, and validating requests (headers, body, trailers, metadata).
- Working with filter configurations (Protobuf) and integrating with the overall configuration cycle.
- Optimizing performance, memory management under high traffic conditions.
- Writing unit and integration tests (GoogleTest/GoogleMock), ensuring coverage of critical scenarios.
- Adding metrics, logging, and tracing for diagnosing filter behavior.
- Participating in code reviews, analyzing and fixing complex build, test, and runtime issues (including leaks and races).
- Building and debugging test versions of Envoy in containers, testing in Kubernetes/Istio environments.
- Interacting with analysts, QA, and DevOps for end-to-end feature delivery.
- Optional: contributing to the development of Rust components (ztunnel) as you dive deeper into the project.
- 2+ years of commercial C++ development experience (Middle/Middle+ level).
- Excellent knowledge of modern C++ (14/17/20): RAII, move semantics, lifetime, smart pointers, const-correctness.
- Practical experience in multithreaded and/or asynchronous programming (understanding event loops, non-blocking I/O, concurrent access; experience with lock-free structures is a plus).
- Ability to write safe and performant code, understanding the cost of memory allocations and copies in hot paths.
- Confident skill in reading, debugging, and modernizing existing/legacy code (working on a large open-source project).
Networks and Protocols:
- Deep understanding of the TCP/IP stack.
- Confident knowledge of HTTP/1.1 and HTTP/2: request lifecycle, headers, statuses, streams, timeouts.
- Understanding the principles of TLS/mTLS operation.
Work Format
Hybrid in Moscow — 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. Office: Novodanilovskaya nab., 10, BF "Danilovskiy Fort".
