KAZ Minerals is looking for an experienced Chief Engineer (Projects) to join our Central Projects Department in Kazakhstan. This is an international / expatriate opportunity for a senior engineering professional with extensive experience in mining and project environments.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead and provide engineering oversight to project teams across multiple disciplines. • Review and approve engineering design and estimate documentation. • Ensure engineering and construction works comply with Kazakhstan regulations, standards and HSE requirements. • Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle — from studies and planning through construction, commissioning and handover. • Coordinate engineering contractors, design and construction organisations and other stakeholders. • Lead commissioning activities on site when required. • Act as Project Lead for assigned projects and support the development of local engineering talent.

Key requirements:

• Higher technical education — Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. • 15+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and related technical roles. • 10+ years of experience in mining and/or project environments. • Strong knowledge across engineering disciplines, including Civil, Electrical, Ore Processing and Mining. • Solid understanding of the full project management lifecycle. • Experience evaluating and reviewing engineering designs in mining and construction projects. • Knowledge of Kazakhstan construction regulations, industrial safety and subsoil management requirements, or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge. • Proficiency in MS Office, Microsoft Project and CAD software.
