Site Reliability Engineer (AI)

Site Reliability Engineer Aleria is an Abu Dhabi-based company developing AI products for clients in the UAE and worldwide. A small team, rapid growth. We work on bare metal, no cloud. We need an engineer who understands every layer — from NIC to Kubernetes pod — and is responsible for ensuring it all works stably under load and doesn't crash in the middle of the night.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the reliability and availability of services on bare metal with Kubernetes on top of the hardware
• Build and maintain observability (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki): metrics, dashboards, alerts, SLO/SLI
• Respond to incidents, conduct post-mortems, and eliminate root causes, not symptoms
• Tune PostgreSQL and other databases for production load, identify bottlenecks
• Maintain CI/CD (GHES, ArgoCD), reduce deployment time and risk
• Network infrastructure: routing, segmentation, load balancing, security
• On-premise and air-gapped deployments (~10%)
• Capacity planning and work on reducing toil
• Security that doesn't slow down the team
• Interact with the development team and client engineers

Requirements:

• Deep bare metal experience — no cloud abstractions
• Understanding of Kubernetes internals, not just manifests
• Experience resolving production incidents under pressure, ability to quickly find the root cause
• Database tuning under load (priority — PostgreSQL)
• Experience building observability and alerting systems from scratch
• Experience with on-prem and air-gapped deployments
• Networking: L2/L3, routing, firewall, VPN
• Production Linux troubleshooting
• Security-minded approach with a balance on delivery speed
• High autonomy when working with unfamiliar stacks
• Infrastructure vision beyond the current task
• English B2+

Will be a plus:

• Experience with GPU clusters for AI
• Ceph/ZFS/distributed storage
• Experience with hardening/compliance for government clients
• Air-gap CI/CD

We are NOT looking for: YAML engineers who only apply ready-made manifests. We need someone who understands what's happening under the hood — and is ready to be the first one up at night if something crashes.
