ML Team Lead (KYC / ID Verification / Biometrics) Remote + Full-time B2B RegTech / FinTech

About the project B2B platform for KYC/IDV with production traffic: document verification, OCR/KIE, biometric verification (selfie, liveness, face match), API and WebSDK for partners. Focus on solution quality, SLA, and scalability.

Role: The ML Team Lead is responsible for the ML direction of the KYC product and its production performance. Responsibilities include technical and team leadership for the ML direction (Document Verification, OCR/KIE, Biometrics), architecture of end-to-end ML pipelines in the KYC flow, quality of automated solutions and the impact of ML on conversion, false rejection, false acceptance, and manual review rate, making architectural decisions on models, inference, and rollout, and collaboration with Product, Backend, DevOps, and Compliance.

Mandatory Requirements: • Production experience in KYC / IDV • Understanding of the full KYC pipeline.

Machine Learning / CV: • Practical experience in Computer Vision: document detection and classification; quality checks (blur, glare, cut, low resolution). • OCR / KIE:

• text recognition;
• key-value extraction;
• multi-language OCR. • Experience with CNN and Transformer-based models. • Production experience:
• selfie verification;
• liveness detection (active / passive);
• face matching (selfie <-> document). • Understanding of:
• spoofing / presentation attacks;
• FAR / FRR and the balance between security vs UX.

Production and Architecture: Deploying ML models to production. Inference services, model and dataset versioning. Understanding of latency, SLA, and cost-effectiveness.

Data and Quality: • Working with data labeling and quality. • Improving metrics:

• precision / recall / F1;
• false acceptance / false rejection;
• manual review rate.

Leadership: Experience managing an ML team (3–10 people). Code review and ML design review. Setting up the process: research → validation → production.

Will be a plus: Anti-fraud / risk-scoring. Experience with documents from Asia, LATAM, Africa. Solution explainability. Preparation of the ML part for compliance audits.
