About the project
A live marketplace with a B2C storefront, a B2B portal for suppliers, and two mobile applications. The product features an AI assistant for product selection based on requests, recipes, and voice input.
The Android application is built with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, communicating with the backend via REST through a BFF on Next.js; images are sourced from Supabase Storage. Maps and addresses are handled by Yandex MapKit, push notifications by Firebase Cloud Messaging, and analytics and attribution by AppMetrica and AppsFlyer.
Technology Stack
Kotlin 2.0.21, Jetpack Compose (BOM 2024.12, Material 3, navigation-compose), Hilt 2.52, KSP, Coroutines and Flow, OkHttp 4.12 with kotlinx.serialization, Coil, DataStore, security-crypto, Firebase (FCM, Remote Config, Analytics), Yandex MapKit 4.26, AppsFlyer, AppMetrica. AGP 8.9.1, minSdk 26, targetSdk 36, Google Play Console.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop the Android application using Jetpack Compose: screens, navigation, loading and error states.
- Work with the REST API: network layer using OkHttp, serialization via kotlinx.serialization, error handling, and unstable network management.
- Support phone authorization (SMS and calls) and secure token storage via DataStore and security-crypto.
- Handle push notifications via FCM, work with addresses and maps using Yandex MapKit, geocoding, and delivery zones.
- Develop AI assistant screens: chat interface, voice input, product selection.
- Work with analytics and attribution: AppMetrica, AppsFlyer, event telemetry.
- Release builds to Google Play, maintain internal test tracks, and manage build signing.
- Configure CI and build automation, increase test coverage.
- Maintain functional parity with iOS and a unified API contract in collaboration with the full-stack developer.
Requirements
- Commercial Android development experience of 2+ years.
- Kotlin and Jetpack Compose in production.
- Coroutines and Flow: asynchronous operations, cancellation, lifecycle management.
- Dependency injection: Hilt or Dagger.
- Clear architecture (MVVM, MVI, Clean) and understanding of its purpose.
- Experience with REST and JSON: OkHttp or Retrofit, kotlinx.serialization or Moshi.
- Secure data storage: DataStore, EncryptedSharedPreferences.
- Push notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging.
- Ability to independently release builds to Google Play.
- Willingness to understand existing code rather than rewriting it from scratch.
Will be a plus
- Yandex MapKit or other mapping SDKs, experience with geocoding and zones.
- Firebase Remote Config, analytics and attribution: AppsFlyer, AppMetrica.
- CI for Android: GitHub Actions, fastlane, automated signing and publishing.
- Unit tests and Compose UI tests.
- Kotlin Multiplatform.
- Working in pair with an iOS developer on the same product.
We offer
- Work on a product with a live audience: a marketplace with a web storefront, a B2B portal, and two mobile applications.
- Modern stack: Kotlin 2.0, Compose, Material 3 — no XML layouts or legacy code.
- Real influence on engineering practices: you will build the release process and testing infrastructure, not inherit existing ones.
- Payment for all approved hours: time is tracked in the tracker.
- Tasks are provided by the PM already approved.
- The first month is a pilot period with feedback at the end.
- Remote format and minimal meetings: a 15-minute status call, then focused work.
