I promised to share what I actually do at inDrive, and what Product Managers do in Compliance in general.
Before joining the company, I knew almost nothing about this domain. I had a vague idea it involved verifying drivers' documents, but I couldn't really imagine what product challenges there could be. Especially without the usual user interfaces, funnels, and conversion rates to optimise. Turns out, it's much more interesting than I expected :)
inDrive operates in 48 countries across multiple business verticals. One of Compliance's key responsibilities is determining whether a driver or courier is eligible to receive orders. To do that, we verify their personal information and documents against local regulations and our internal requirements. Sounds pretty straightforward, right? Well, not when you're dealing with millions of users, multiple business verticals, and dozens of countries.
First, every country has its own rules. Document requirements and verification procedures vary from market to market. Regulations change, internal policies evolve, and the same user might operate across several business verticals, each with different requirements.
Second, Compliance isn't just about rejecting users who don't meet the requirements. Every new driver is someone the company has already invested time and money in acquiring. Which means we directly influence the conversion from registration to the first completed order. We need to prevent fraudsters with forged documents from getting through, while helping legitimate users start earning as quickly as possible. And balancing these two goals is a product challenge in itself.
Third, all of this needs to scale. We're building a horizontal platform that supports different countries and business verticals, helps verification teams work more efficiently, uses AI to automate document checks, and remains flexible enough to adapt quickly when requirements change. And what I find particularly interesting is that the better we do our job, the less users even notice we exist. :)
So, three months in, I've discovered a completely new product domain with far more challenges and opportunities than I ever expected. And now, back to hiring. I'm looking for a Senior Product Manager to join my team and help us build and scale Compliance products. If you enjoy complex platform challenges with a direct impact on the business, this might be a great opportunity.
Here's the opportunity: Let's change the world together!
