Sber's Regional Research and Development Center in Nizhny Novgorod is a modern IT hub with a young, ambitious team. We are launching the development of digital solutions for key clients and the region, conducting AI hackathons, implementing educational programs with universities, and preparing new IT talents through a large-scale internship program.
We are looking for a Python Developer Intern with backend development experience who is interested in developing AI-native products, LLM services, RAG, and AI Agents.
If you have a strong engineering foundation, practical interest in modern AI development tools, and the ability to independently tackle new technical challenges, this position is for you.
The intern will participate in the development of backend services and AI-native functionality for the center's event project management AI solution, as well as contribute to other team projects.

Backend
- Participate in the development of REST API in Python
- Work with PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, Alembic
- Write simple backend services and integration components
- Add logging, error handling, and basic tests
- Work with API documentation
- Participate in code reviews
AI / LLM
- Integrate LLMs into backend services
- Participate in the development of simple RAG pipelines
- Configure structured output
- Participate in the development of agent workflows
- Assist in labeling, testing, and evaluating the quality of LLM responses
- Compare different approaches and models based on metrics
- Document the behavior of AI features
Processes
- Work according to Scrum / Agile
- Manage tasks in Jira / Confluence
- Use Git Flow
- Participate in discussions about requirements and hypotheses
Requirements
- Including studies at a university or college in an IT specialty
- Confident knowledge of Python
- Understanding of OOP and basic principles of writing clean code
- Basic experience with FastAPI or another backend framework
- Understanding of REST API
- Basic knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL
- Understanding of Git
- Basic ability to work in Linux / terminal
- Knowledge of asynchronous programming / multithreading
- Interest in working with LLMs, AI Agents, RAG, and AI-native development
- Willingness to write tests, documentation, and understand existing code
- Ability to ask questions, learn quickly and independently, and work with feedback
