Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Guernsey / onsite

Are you an experienced Infrastructure Engineer looking for an opportunity to work across a diverse and complex enterprise environment? We are seeking a proactive and technically capable individual to join our Infrastructure Operations team, where you will play a key role in supporting, maintaining and developing critical infrastructure services that underpin our customers' technology environments.

This is a varied, hands-on role that combines operational support, technical troubleshooting, incident resolution and infrastructure improvement. Working alongside colleagues across Infrastructure, Networks, Service Management and other technical teams, you will help ensure services remain stable, secure and aligned to customer needs while contributing to the ongoing evolution of our managed services.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support across infrastructure services.
• Investigate, diagnose and resolve infrastructure-related incidents and service requests.
• Take ownership of technical issues through to resolution, including escalation where appropriate.
• Support infrastructure changes, maintenance activities and planned technical works.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across server, virtualisation, storage and associated technologies.
• Collaborate with internal technical teams and third-party suppliers to deliver effective outcomes for customers.
• Maintain accurate records, documentation and knowledge articles within service management systems.
• Ensure operational activities are completed in line with governance, change control and agreed processes.
• Support problem management activities and identify opportunities to improve service reliability and efficiency.
• Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of infrastructure services and customer environments.

Requirements

• Proven experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server environments.
• Experience working with Linux operating systems.
• Knowledge of Active Directory and related Microsoft infrastructure services.
• Experience with virtualisation technologies, particularly VMware.
• Understanding of enterprise server, compute and storage technologies.
• Familiarity with backup, recovery, monitoring and alert management platforms.
• Exposure to Microsoft Azure and hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Understanding of infrastructure security, vulnerability remediation and lifecycle management practices.
• Knowledge of IT Service Management processes, including Incident, Request, Problem and Change Management, ideally within an ITIL-based environment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a structured and methodical approach.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A collaborative mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
• Ability to participate in an on-call rota.
• Ability to obtain the required security clearance.
