Backend Developer for the Documents Team

Yandex Documents is a new product that we launched at the end of 2024. We have already left Beta status, and we have millions of users per month.

Documents is one of the services in the Yandex 360 ecosystem, which also includes Disk, Mail, Calendar, Telemost, Boards, and Notes. We create products for users and organizations, constantly work on quality and performance, and at the same time manage to experiment with new technologies to make our applications even more convenient and useful.

We are looking for a strong Java and Python developer to help us with this.

Main tech stack:

• Code in Java and Python
• PostgreSQL as the main database

What tasks await you

Designing architecture and opening new product capabilities Our product is still at the very beginning of its journey. There will be many interesting and complex technical tasks to solve — for example, tasks related to scaling and developing a distributed high-load service.

Monitoring product performance and prompt response Despite its youth, the product must meet high quality standards. Therefore, you will participate in maintaining its stability, as well as in developing observability to improve quality, reliability, and fault tolerance.

Integration with Disk We are very closely connected with Yandex Disk, so you will need to dive into the product logic and architecture of one of the largest cloud storages in Russia, as well as develop new functionality and improve existing one.

We expect you to

• Have excellent knowledge of Java and have experience in commercial development with this language
• Be ready to master Python development or have such experience
• Understand the principles of building distributed fault-tolerant systems
• Know how to search for and propose solutions, understand other people's code
• Be independent and proactive, ready to take responsibility for the development of a critical service component
• Believe in what you do and share our aspiration to create the best international service

Will be a plus

• Have written code in Python
