About the product
An AI solution architect agent that goes far beyond a simple task-focused copilot. It takes enterprise users all the way from high-level, ambiguous business requirements or PRDs straight to production-ready automation workflows.
Under the hood, it’s a sophisticated multi-agent architecture (primary agent, sub-agents, tool-calling, and MCP skills) running on a proprietary, custom-built agent framework optimized for production.
About the role
We are looking for a Staff Python AI Engineer who already operates at a Staff level (formally or de-facto) to own the agent's evolution across the entire platform. The team is small (~7 hybrid backend/AI engineers) and senior-heavy.
This hire is meant to share that architectural load: a Staff-level engineer to lead high-impact, cross-team initiatives end-to-end. This role is ideal for someone who has expanded their organizational scope and business impact without losing technical engineering depth.
What you’ll do
- Own major components of the solution architect agent end-to-end.
- Extend agent integration with platform entities, design new capabilities, and architect for complex new domain areas as the product evolves.
- Evolve the evaluation framework from basic Q&A evals to richer, multi-step measurement of agent behavior, quality, and latency.
- Act as a cross-team connector, coordinating technical trade-offs, designing across service boundaries, and driving engineering outcomes that span multiple teams.
- Track the rapidly moving AI frontier (MCP, Cursor, Claude Code, new agent patterns) and pragmatically bring relevant, production-grade approaches into the core architecture.
- Write clean, testable code, lead deep code reviews, and help set technical direction alongside the Tech Lead and VP of Engineering.
What we expect
- 8+ years of commercial production experience, with recent years heavily focused on Python.
- Shipped full products with true end-to-end ownership of architecture, delivery, and post-launch quality.
- Hands-on AI in production: real experience integrating LLMs, building RAG pipelines, multi-agent orchestrations, or complex eval systems into shipped products (depth of production delivery matters more than theoretical research).
- Strong backend fundamentals: API design, distributed systems, databases, and modern observability tooling.
- Business context fluency: the ability to connect deep technical decisions directly to user outcomes and business value.
- High comfort with ambiguity: you proactively clarify incomplete product requirements instead of waiting for a clear spec.
- Fluent English.
Nice-to-have(s)
- A critical view on off-the-shelf frameworks and practical experience building your own agent runtime or custom abstractions.
- Familiarity with our ecosystem stack: FastAPI, Temporal, Kubernetes, Postgres, Grafana.
- Background in product-led B2B SaaS/PaaS companies.
- Experience with developer tooling, workflow automation, low-code platforms, or conversational enterprise copilots.
