About the opportunity
Our client is a well-funded digital infrastructure business with significant data-centre capacity. It is now expanding into a new area: operating its own GPU compute and offering platform services to external customers.
This is not a plan on paper. The initial GPU hardware has been procured. What's needed now is a technology leader who will design the complete system around it, bring the first clusters into production and build a reliable service platform on top.
About the role
This is a newly created position leading the technology behind the new GPU cloud business, working closely and frequently with the group's top decision-makers. You will own the architecture from physical compute to the platform layer, make the critical technology and vendor calls, and build the team that delivers it.
Your first priorities:
- Assess the procured GPU estate, existing technical commitments and immediate architecture gaps.
- Specify what is still missing around the GPUs (compute, networking, storage, operations) and lead deployment and commissioning.
- Decide which platform capabilities launch first and build the technical organisation around that roadmap.
Technology is your remit. Sales, commercial utilisation and data-centre construction are led by separate executives, and you will work closely with them.
What you’ll do
- Own technology strategy and architecture across GPU clusters, servers, high-performance networking, storage, orchestration and infrastructure services
- Lead the technical deployment of the first GPU environments, from system design through commissioning to production readiness
- Define the platform layer that makes the infrastructure usable for AI and large-scale compute workloads
- Set standards for performance, resilience, observability, security and scalability
- Work directly with GPU, server, networking, storage and cloud infrastructure partners, and own vendor recommendations
- Design the technology organisation, hire senior leaders and build the required engineering capabilities
- Advise top leadership on technology investments, delivery risks and future expansion
What we're looking for
- Senior technology leadership in GPU cloud, AI infrastructure, HPC, hyperscale cloud or similarly large compute environments. We care more about what you have personally owned and built than about years on a CV
- Personal responsibility for deploying, commissioning or operating GPU infrastructure at multi-thousand-GPU scale. 5,000-10,000 GPUs is a strong reference point
- Understanding of the full system: servers and GPUs, network fabrics, storage, orchestration and the services built on top
- Experience creating or scaling a cloud, GPU-as-a-service or comparable infrastructure platform
- A track record of building multidisciplinary teams and owning roadmap, vendor and investment decisions
- The ability to go deep on architecture and then explain its business implications to senior executives concisely
- An independent point of view and the confidence to challenge decisions with arguments
- Fluent professional English
Particularly relevant
- NVIDIA and/or AMD GPU ecosystems and recent accelerator generations
- High-performance GPU networking, distributed storage and cluster orchestration
- Multi-site or multi-region infrastructure ownership
- Building a new infrastructure capability or commercial platform from an early stage
What to expect
- A build stage: things move fast and not everything is defined yet. You will shape processes as much as architecture
- Fast, top-level decision-making: decisions are made quickly and close to the top. Influence comes from clear recommendations and delivered results, and it grows as trust is built
- A senior environment that values mature leadership: someone who communicates clearly and is comfortable pushing back when the evidence calls for it
Location & package
- Dubai, full relocation is preferred. A hybrid format can be discussed, with travel and accommodation covered. The role requires regular in-person work with leadership
- An executive package structured individually. Your current fixed pay, variable compensation and equity will be taken into account
- Relocation support for you and your family: visas, flights, medical insurance, temporary accommodation, housing allowance and annual flights home
- No personal income tax in the UAE
