The robotics division at Yandex is relatively new, but we have already put several types of robots into operation at warehouses, completed many successful external launches, and exciting new projects are ahead of us.

We are looking for a developer with Java knowledge for the robot management service. Our team handles:

• modeling robot movement in the warehouse;
• distributing tasks among robots;
• tracking task status;
• developing the business logic for robot operation;
• collecting information from all devices in the warehouse and utilizing it for business.

Our tech stack:

• Java 17, Kotlin, Spring, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Kafka;
• established continuous integration and delivery processes;
• integration and load tests.

What tasks await you

Creating a robot management platform The platform is the brain and center of the ecosystem; it determines which robot is best suited for a specific task. The platform distributes and tracks all operations, collects results, analyzes them, and notifies about potential problems.

Integrating robots into real business processes You will work on complex algorithms for distributing tasks among robots, building a flexible system that allows for easy robot deployment and dynamic changes to its business logic. You will closely collaborate with colleagues developing hardware to understand all the nuances of robotics. Furthermore, you will automate business processes to handle non-standard situations, thereby enhancing the stability and reliability of our products.

Infrastructure tasks It is important that our solution is sold to external users, so we also aim for the application to be easily deployable both as a SaaS solution and on-premise. Additionally, you will delve into the large-scale Yandex infrastructure products and find optimal solutions for advancing robotics.

We expect you to

• Have strong proficiency in Java SE 8+ or Kotlin, and have been developing web applications for more than two years
• Know how to design REST APIs
• Have experience designing databases and know how to write and optimize SQL queries

It will be a plus if you

• Have built scalable, fault-tolerant systems
• Have managed a product or infrastructure team
• Can independently lead technical projects: not only conceive solutions but also estimate, implement, and support them in production
