Network Engineer

Server Mall is one of the leading Russian experts in the field of server hardware, data storage systems, network infrastructure, and comprehensive IT solutions for corporate clients.

We have been working with physical infrastructure for many years: servers, storage systems, network equipment, virtualization platforms, and fault-tolerant solutions for businesses. On this basis, we are actively developing our own cloud direction — Server Mall Cloud.

Server Mall Cloud is a cloud platform where Server Mall's expertise in hardware combines with modern approaches to building cloud infrastructure, data center networks, and software-defined services. We are building not an abstract cloud "on top of someone else's platform," but an infrastructure where we understand every level well: from physical servers and network equipment to virtualization, SDN, client services, and automation.

Due to the growth of our cloud direction, we are looking for a network engineer in St. Petersburg who will participate in the development, operation, and scaling of office networks, data center networks, and cloud network infrastructure — both physical and software-defined.

We are developing a high-load and distributed network infrastructure. At its core are several geographically distributed data centers, modern equipment, and advanced technologies like EVPN-VXLAN and BGP. We are looking for a passionate and skilled engineer who wants to solve complex problems, improve network fault tolerance and performance, and influence the architecture of a rapidly growing cloud platform.

Format: remote (office/hybrid if desired). Office: St. Petersburg. Team: you will become a key engineer in the network division; the team is expanding as the platform grows.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and operate networks in geographically distributed data centers.
• Configure and maintain EVPN over VXLAN (setting up segments, managing VNIs, configuring symmetric IRB).
• Configure and optimize eBGP/iBGP to ensure connectivity between sites and with upstream providers, including working with multiple Autonomous Systems (AS).
• Traffic load balancing and routing policy management (BGP Traffic Engineering, Local Pref, AS-Path, Communities).
• Maintain and upgrade legacy network segments built on M-LAG technology.
• Configure and monitor network equipment (routers, switches).
• Collect and configure network telemetry and monitoring based on VictoriaMetrics (transitioning from Zabbix) for prompt analysis and problem prevention.

• Switches (Spine/Leaf): Arista, Juniper
• Technologies: EVPN-VXLAN, BGP, M-LAG, VRRP, LACP, NSX-T, OpenStack Neutron/OVN
• Monitoring and telemetry: VictoriaMetrics, SNMP, gNMI/JTI (Junos Telemetry Interface)
• New milestone — Python/Ansible for automating routine operations.

We are looking for a specialist who:

• Has extensive experience with Juniper (MX, QFX) and/or Arista network equipment.
• Must have practical experience deploying and troubleshooting EVPN-VXLAN in a production environment.
• Is proficient in BGP: understands attributes, knows how to build and diagnose routing policies, and has experience working with multiple AS.
• Has experience with clustering technologies (M-LAG, MC-LAG, VPC).
• Understands the principles of L2/L3 networks, TCP/IP.
• Has experience configuring network monitoring and telemetry.
• Can work with and maintain documentation.

Will be a big plus:

• Experience writing scripts for automation (Python, Bash) and using tools like Ansible.
• Knowledge of Junos OS and Arista EOS operating systems at an administration level.
• Traffic analysis skills (Wireshark, tcpdump).
• Understanding of information security fundamentals as applied to network infrastructure.
