We are looking for a Lead Database Administrator at Zolotoye Yabloko, a dynamically developing company where growth and ambition shape interesting work tasks and give everyone the opportunity to influence the business and develop professionally.
You will be working in the IT Operations Department, where the team is responsible for the development and operation of IT infrastructure, procurement and accounting of IT assets, opening stores, distribution centers, offices, and user technical support.
Responsibilities:
- Perform initial installation and configuration of the database server.
- Administer and operationally support MS SQL Server DBMS.
- Administer clusters, Always On, replication, and high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) mechanisms.
- Configure database performance monitoring: collect metrics, create dashboards, set up notification system.
- Configure and maintain data replication mechanisms.
- Implement table and index partitioning.
- Ensure correct transaction operation, manage locks, control isolation levels.
- Optimize SQL queries and indexes.
- Analyze query execution plans, identify bottlenecks.
- Identify and resolve locks as they occur.
- Configure and support backup and recovery processes.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and servicing of databases, including automation of regular procedures and processes.
- Differentiate access levels to databases according to the adopted role model and security policies adopted in the company, and automate these tasks.
- Regularly audit databases for compliance with information security policies.
- Interact with developers on query optimization (perform analysis of performance, statistics, indexes, logs, lock resolution, and other database operation incidents). Provide code optimization recommendations for developers.
- Develop operation standards and technical documentation.
Candidate Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in administering and supporting MSSQL databases (2012-2025), with 20+ installations and 100+ databases.
- Knowledge of SQL Server internal architecture and DBMS principles.
- Practical experience with Always On.
- Understanding of Failover Clustering, Replication, and Log Shipping principles.
- Skills in performance analysis, bottleneck identification, and DBMS fine-tuning.
- Proficient in SQL, T-SQL, PowerShell.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or other OLTP database vendors is a plus.
- Deep understanding of the SQL language and query optimization principles, including: index optimization, reading and analyzing query execution plans, profiling current database load, identifying and resolving locks, performance analysis, bottleneck identification, and DBMS fine-tuning.
- Advantageous: experience with Enterprise databases at the ERP AXAPTA level or other high-load systems based on MSSQL.
