Seeking a kernel engineer for an international IT company that focuses on long-term support and security of Enterprise Linux systems.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze security patches and bug fixes in the upstream Linux kernel, identify their dependencies.
- Backport patches to RPM and Debian distribution kernels, manually resolve version conflicts.
- Build and rebuild kernel sources and binary packages in a reproducible environment.
- Verify patched kernels through targeted tests, build checks, and regression analysis.
- Write scripts for automating patch preparation, building, and verification (Python, Go, or Shell).
- Utilize AI tools to accelerate routine tasks and always verify the generated code.
Requirements:
- Solid C skills and practical experience debugging the Linux kernel.
- Experience with patching, backporting, or kernel development.
- Understanding of Git, GNU build tools, and experience building the kernel or distribution packages.
- Automation skills in Python, Go, or Shell.
- Experience working with AI development assistants and the ability to validate their results.
- English proficiency from B1/B2 (reading documentation, correspondence, calls).
Will be a plus:
- Experience with packaging for RPM / Debian.
- Experience analyzing CVEs and working with ELS / LTS branches.
- Familiarity with Docker, QEMU, Jenkins, and core dump analysis.
