The company develops technologies for automatic live patching without reboots and provides Extended Lifecycle Support (ELS) for distributions with expired lifecycles. The distributed team consists of 250+ specialists worldwide and serves over 4,500 enterprise clients.
Role Essence:
Research CVEs and vulnerabilities, backport Linux kernel patches for older versions (RPM and Debian ecosystems), build packages, and automate pipelines. A willingness to use AI development tools in conjunction with strict code verification is mandatory.
Format:
100% Remote (B2B / Independent Contractor). Focus on LATAM time zones (Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, etc.) is important.
Tasks:
• Analyze upstream security fixes (CVEs) and their impact on older kernels. • Manually backport Linux kernel patches and resolve merge conflicts. • Build kernel sources and binary packages in reproducible environments (RPM/Debian). • Conduct runtime tests, builds, and regression analysis of patched kernels. • Write scripts in Python, Go, and Shell to automate development pipelines. • Use AI tools to accelerate tasks with strict code quality control.
Requirements:
• Deep C and Linux kernel debugging/development experience (patching, backporting, debugging). • Confident work with Git, GNU build tools (make, autotools), and package building utilities. • Automation experience in Python, Go, or Shell. • Practical experience with AI assistants (Copilot, Codeium) and a critical approach to their code. • English B1+ level (daily written and oral communication in an international team).
Not suitable if you only work at the high application level, are not ready to dive deep into C/C++ kernel code, or rely on AI without manual verification of the result.
