Backend Developer (API) (Web3)
Location: Worldwide Remote or Office in New York City (USA). Relocation support available for NYC.
Salary: $12,500 – $20,800 per month gross ($150k – $250k per year) + tokens

What you will do
- Design, implement, and optimize the API stack and SDK, including REST and websocket protocols for trading and real-time data.
- Develop performance-sensitive components of the matching engine and gateway logic.
- Refine API specifications and improve latency profiles in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Integrate exchange components like matching, clearing, and account state into a coherent interface.
- Conduct rigorous benchmarking, load testing, and latency instrumentation.
- Maintain test harnesses, production API documentation, and versioning.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with distributed backend systems and performance-critical real-time APIs.
- Strong proficiency in Go, Rust, Python, Java, or TypeScript.
- Expertise in API design patterns (OpenAPI, gRPC, REST, websockets) and best practices for authentication and rate-limiting.
- Knowledge of trading system architectures, including order lifecycles and matching logic.
- Proven ability to debug and design in high-throughput, concurrent environments.
Nice to have
- Experience with Rust or Python in latency-sensitive applications.
- Background in building exchange gateways, FIX engines, or trading APIs.
- Knowledge of crypto wallet models and on-chain order flows.
- Experience with HFT, quant trading, or simulation environments.
- Familiarity with market access tooling like colocation and order routers.
