About the company
Dialab LLC is a developing distribution company in the field of medical devices, laboratory diagnostics, and veterinary products.
We are developing new product lines and are looking for someone who can help make decisions not based on intuition, but on deep and consistent data research.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone who knows how to research unfamiliar markets.
We don't need an analyst who only processes ready-made arrays, builds pivot tables, and visualizes pre-defined metrics.
We are looking for a researcher capable of independently:
- understanding how an unfamiliar market works;
- determining what questions need to be asked;
- finding and evaluating available data sources;
- building a research methodology;
- identifying patterns, anomalies, and contradictions;
- testing hypotheses;
- consistently moving from the general market to specific product segments and SKUs;
- turning results into a clear map for making commercial decisions.
The main subject of research at the first stage is open data from government procurement. However, experience with the EIS (Unified Information System in the Sphere of Procurement) or tenders is not required. For us, the ability to independently understand any new system and grasp the logic of the data it contains is more important.
Example task
The company is considering the market for a specific group of medical devices.
The analyst must not just download the procurement volume and name the largest customers, but independently determine:
- how to correctly divide the market into categories and subcategories;
- which product characteristics actually affect demand;
- which SKUs are purchased most often;
- in which regions the main volume is concentrated;
- where competition is lower or higher;
- which customers purchase products regularly;
- which manufacturers and suppliers hold the main positions;
- where there are atypical prices, low discounts, or other anomalies;
- which segments deserve further commercial development;
- what additional information is missing for a final decision.
The result of the work should be a market map with which management can implement a commercial strategy.
What you will be doing
- independently designing research for unfamiliar product markets;
- formulating questions and testable hypotheses;
- collecting data from open and internal sources;
- working with large, disparate, and uncleaned datasets;
- evaluating the completeness, reliability, and limitations of the data;
- cleaning, normalizing, and consolidating information;
- restoring product classification;
- identifying patterns, outliers, and hidden segments;
- analyzing markets by products, characteristics, regions, customers, manufacturers, and participants;
- separating confirmed conclusions from assumptions;
- explaining what data is needed for further verification;
- preparing clear analytical conclusions for management;
- gradually creating a reproducible internal research methodology.
What we expect
- strong systemic, logical, and research thinking;
- the ability to independently formulate questions, not just execute a pre-defined technical task;
- experience working with large datasets;
- the ability to structure unfamiliar and unstructured information;
- understanding the principles of statistics, hypothesis testing, and data quality;
- the ability to find non-obvious patterns;
- the ability to draw practical conclusions important for business;
- attention to the limitations and possible errors of analysis;
- independence and deep immersion in the task.
For the job, you will need:
- advanced Excel;
- SQL;
- Python or another data processing and analysis tool;
- experience with BI systems will be an advantage.
For us, the specific set of software is less important than the ability to choose the right tool for the task and ensure the reproducibility of the analysis.
This will be an advantage
- a degree in mathematics, engineering, physics, econometrics, or statistics;
- experience as a Research Analyst, Data Analyst, Business Analyst, Pricing Analyst, BI Analyst, or Product Line Analyst;
- experience conducting independent research;
- experience working with open government data;
- experience processing unstructured product names;
- skills in automation, parsing, fuzzy matching, and text classification;
- experience preparing recommendations for managers or business owners.
Experience in medicine and government procurement is not mandatory.
This vacancy is not suitable if you
- are used to working only according to a pre-defined technical specification;
- expect the business to list all the metrics that need to be calculated;
- consider only a table or dashboard to be the result of work;
- are not ready to independently study a new subject area;
- draw conclusions without checking data quality;
- cannot explain the logic of the research and the limitations of your conclusions.
What is not included in the responsibilities
- preparation of tender applications;
- participation in bidding;
- contract management;
- cold calling;
- negotiations with suppliers;
- regular management reporting for the sake of reporting.
The analyst's task is to research the market, find and prove a promising opportunity.
What we offer
- direct work with the company owner;
- tasks without a pre-defined answer;
- the opportunity to independently form research methodology;
- real influence on the launch of new product lines and participation in their financial results;
- minimum bureaucracy;
- access to necessary data and analytical tools;
- competitive salary;
- KPIs and a bonus system for research that has transitioned into successful commercial areas;
- prospect of developing your own analytical function within the company.
