ML Developer for the Logistics Efficiency Team at Yandex Food
Yandex Food is a popular service for delivering meals from restaurants and goods from stores. Our machine learning team in the logistics domain makes the service more intelligent. We use ML models to predict system behavior, optimize delivery, and help make decisions at all levels: from courier assignment algorithms to strategies for their attraction and motivation.
In our team, you will be able to influence key logistics processes, such as calculating ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival), delivery, hiring, and motivating couriers. We offer a full ML development cycle: from idea to implementation and obtaining results. Working with us, you will deal with a huge scale of data, real-world tasks, and fast feedback from the system.
Forecasting preparation and delivery time You will develop models for accurately forecasting order preparation time and total delivery time (from order placement to handover to the customer). Such models help to distribute couriers more efficiently, speed up delivery, and improve the customer experience.
Models for courier attraction and retention You will need to develop models to increase the efficiency of the courier network: forecasting the probability of couriers leaving and creating personalized motivational strategies for more targeted hiring and effective retention.
Order volume assessment You will model basket volume to determine whether an order will fit into a standard courier bag — this is important for selecting the appropriate courier. You will also need to consider the specifics of the restaurant, product type, packaging, and other factors.
Development of ML approaches in logistics You will work at the intersection of analytics and machine learning, initiating and developing new ML projects together with analysts and managers. You will need to immerse yourself in the subject area, formulate tasks, propose new approaches, and improve existing models.
Full ML project cycle You will develop a machine learning model, starting from data collection and analysis and ending with building, training, implementing, and monitoring in production.
