Engineering team lead (Remote) - Job Description

We are a young startup with a bold vision to become the commerce and financial technology backbone of construction - one of the world’s largest industries. Founded by serial entrepreneurs with exits to Fortune 500 companies (including Paypal), Field Materials has partnered with prominent VC funds in Silicon Valley to build a world class team with a mission to digitize and democratize construction material purchasing. This is a unique opportunity to join at the ground level an industry transforming company.

We're looking for an engineering team lead for 4-10 engineers. This is the job for someone that can still be hands-on writing and reviewing code, yet has demonstrated ability to manage a team, hire and recruit people. This is a perfect opportunity for someone to grow into an engineering manager within a 12-month horizon. You'll work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams across the company.

What we look for:

• 2+ years of engineering management experience, with 4+ years as a full stack software engineer.
• Ability to prototype solutions and provide constructive code feedback
• Prior experience coaching and bringing the best out of a senior technical team.
• Ability to attract, hire, and coach world-class engineers.
• Strong and effective communication skills to convey complex ideas in a simple manner.
• BS (or higher) in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with distributed systems and React
• Experience with Go is a plus
• Experience with GraphQL is a plus
