Java Backend Developer (Middle+/Senior)
We at Gracia are proud to be the first in the world to create photorealistic volumetric video based on Gaussian Splatting (4DGS), and for 2.5 years we have been successfully building infrastructure for its production and distribution. 4DGS is a new type of content where video can be rendered from any point in space within it. This is not our first startup; we are building this project with an experienced team consisting of ex-Prisma AI (150M downloads in the App Store, #1 AI avatars in 2022) and ex-Netmonet (exit in 2021, capitalization in several billion rubles). We are building this company for ourselves – designing it to be a full-fledged business for real users, not just for sale to Big Tech.
How it works?
- The scene is filmed simultaneously from different angles using regular cameras.
- Synchronized videos from cameras are converted by our technology and pipeline into a photorealistic and dynamic 3D scene.
- Then, this scene is rendered in real-time on the device, and the user gets the ability to watch the video from any point in space at any time, i.e., walk inside the video, and the image is recalculated instantly without delay. The passthrough/mixed reality mode allows the user to combine volumetric video with their surroundings, i.e., bring a realistically shot scene into their own space.
This is not 3D animation or an avatar, but a real recording – a new type of content and user experience. Over the past 3 years, the technology has already proven that it will definitively change not only the look of VR/AR content but also how virtual production for films is structured, as well as how immersive replays will be produced for sports broadcasting.
Who needs this?
We are already working with leading BigTech companies, Hollywood productions using our technology for films, Fashion brands, and production companies for broadcasting (we can share more details at the interview), and we are struggling to process all the data they send us.

- We were the first in the world to launch real-time rendering of 4DGS content on low-end GPU standalone devices (Quest 3/3S + Pico 4U, Apple VisionPro, iPhone, Android)
- We proved PMF (product market fit) with paying users
- We confidently surpassed the $2M ARR mark
- We raised $3.5M from international funds
- We built a partner network of volumetric capturing studios in the US, UK, Europe, Canada, Japan
- We grew to 30 people
Now we are looking for a Java Backend Developer – someone who will help us build reliable, scalable, and high-performance backend services for a product that is already used by clients worldwide.
What you will do
- Design and develop new backend features, including REST APIs and core business logic
- Integrate the platform with external services: payment providers, analytics systems, marketing tools, and other third-party services
- Work closely with product and analytics teams to support a data-driven approach, experiments, and A/B testing
- Monitor, debug, and optimize service performance and reliability using Grafana and Prometheus
- Participate in improving CI/CD processes and cloud-native infrastructure running on Kubernetes
What's important to us
- 3+ years of professional experience in backend development with Java
- High level of independence, ownership, and the ability to proactively solve problems without micromanagement
- English language proficiency at Intermediate level or higher
Solid experience with:
- Java 11+ and Spring Boot (Web, Security, Data JPA)
- PostgreSQL: SQL, JPA/Hibernate, transactions, JSONB
- REST API, OpenAPI, JWT, and OAuth2
- Docker and Kubernetes, preferably AWS EKS
- AWS services, including S3 and CloudFront
- RabbitMQ or other messaging systems
- Maven, JUnit, Testcontainers, and modern testing practices
Will be a plus:
- Experience with MapStruct and Liquibase
- Experience integrating payment providers and payment processing systems
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools: Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools
