Selfwork is a startup building a global AI ecosystem for working with freelancers and B2B payments.

Two products: AI Freelance Marketplace, where AI matches clients with freelancers, and B2B Payroll for international contractor payments. We already have paying clients, and we continue to actively seek product-market fit: we test hypotheses quickly, pivot, and release often.

About the role

We are looking for a senior engineer who will develop both products with the team: taking on both simple tasks and complex architectural solutions.

We offer a lot of autonomy, direct and rapid impact on the product. In return, we expect high responsibility and independence. We are looking for someone who maintains quality themselves and sees tasks through to completion. The team is small, the pace is high. The role is well-suited for those who value independence, and less so for those who prefer to work in a large structure with detailed tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead the platform's frontend (React + TypeScript, including PWA) and backend logic (Node.js, Fastify).
• Design and implement new features with the product team and CTO.
• Develop and integrate the AI assistant — a key part of the platform.
• Independently make engineering decisions on your tasks and justify them.
• Work with databases and queues (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ClickHouse, Redis, NATS).
• Maintain a balance between speed and quality, deal with technical debt, improve developer experience.

Tech Stack

Frontend: React, TypeScript, TanStack Query, Vite, OpenAPI.

Backend: Node.js (Fastify), TypeScript, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ClickHouse, Redis, NATS.

Infrastructure: monorepo (Turbo), GitLab, CI/CD.

What's important to us

• 5+ years of commercial full-stack experience in product teams, NOT in outsourcing.
• Experience in startups or small teams.
• Production experience: releases, staging/prod, understanding of CI/CD, post-release fixes, incidents;
• Experience with independent delivery: from design and implementation to deploy and production support.
• Product mindset: ability to reduce scope, build MVPs, propose and justify solutions.
• Interest in AI, fintech, and product development.
