Low-Level Systems Developer for the International Projects Team of Yandex Food

Yandex Food is a dynamic service for delivering meals from restaurants and groceries from stores. Every day we process millions of orders worldwide and have already entered the markets of the CIS and other countries.

Our team develops the service internationally: we launch the client application in new countries and implement projects for the service's growth.

What tasks await you

Launches in new countries Your team will adapt the backend of the client application for launch in new countries. This is not routine work — in each country, you will face new and interesting challenges: from working with new currencies and local payments to accounting for cultural and regulatory specifics.

Development in international markets Foodtech in the international market is a highly competitive environment where rapid growth is necessary. You will work on projects that help the service maintain the required pace and implement large-scale features to stay ahead of competitors. For example, you will have to implement discount mechanics affecting the entire order process or integrate a new application after an M&A deal.

Improving the courier experience Your team will be responsible for the full launch cycle of projects that improve the collaboration conditions for couriers with Yandex Food. It will be necessary to plan the project, handle development, testing, and support, and then further develop the functionality and scale it to other countries/regions.

We expect that you

• Are proficient in C++
• Have developed for Unix or Linux
• Have worked with STL, preferably with Boost
• Are familiar with ACID requirements, isolation levels, database sharding and replication
• Have developed backend, worked with high-load systems

Will be a plus

• Have experience with multithreaded systems
• Can work with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ
• Have designed architecture for distributed systems
• Write tests and scripts in Python
