Go Developer for Yandex Cloud Stackland

We are developing Yandex Cloud Stackland — the capability to install a subset of Yandex Cloud services within a customer's own infrastructure. The key distinction from the public cloud is that this is an on-premises solution. Therefore, we are building most things from scratch, rather than trying to adapt services from the public cloud.

We are looking for strong Go developers, ideally with solid experience in Kubernetes (K8s), who will help us conquer the world.

What tasks await you

Platform component development We take some components from open source and refine them as needed (without forking!). Others (like the installer) we develop ourselves, at least until AI learns to do it better than us.

Kubernetes operator development Our team has extensive experience in operating platform services at Yandex and Yandex Cloud. Your task is to encapsulate this experience into code capable of operating without our involvement.

Container OS development We believe that managing Kubernetes together with the base operating system, rather than separately from it, gives rise to new product features. You will be developing this foundational infrastructure layer.

We expect you to

• Have solid knowledge of Go (or another programming language but want to switch to Go)
• Have worked with K8s (or want to dive deep into this technology)
• Take responsibility for the product you develop
• Give and receive constructive feedback, want to develop yourself and help colleagues do the same
• Care about quality, follow the Boy Scout rule—leaving everything in a better state than you found it

Will be a plus

• Have developed on-premises software
• Gained experience in operating or using Kubernetes, wrote services oriented for K8s, or K8s operators
• Have been involved in infrastructure development and troubleshooting
• Have participated in open-source projects and understand the specifics of open-source development
