tl;dr: founding engineers, any experience lvl, $100k–300k + equity, remote/SF/Singapore
We don't know if you're following the development of personal agents and the shortage of Mac minis in San Francisco — or if an AI assistant will include this post in your daily digest.
We're watching with interest for now. Just the other day, Meta's Director of Alignment shared how OpenClaw cleaned her inbox so decisively that she couldn't stop it with words — she had to run and unplug the machine 🔌
Besides console agents like OpenClaw, there are also browser-based ones — they "see" your screen and literally click buttons. In a sense, this makes them "more powerful" — they can draw a picture in GIMP, calculate an Excel spreadsheet, look at a dashboard in Kubernetes, and do it all like a human, without any additional protocols or devtools.
But there are also more questions. Evaluating the work of such an agent is more difficult, and controlling it well is more important: if something goes wrong, it can get access not only to your inbox but also to password autofill, for example 🤩
These problems are being solved by HUD, our new clients. Their product allows you to turn your production system into an RL environment where agents can be launched, evaluated, and further trained on your specific tasks. Their success is impressive — among their clients are frontier AI labs and large companies like DoorDash, and recently they raised a round of tens of millions 💸
The team currently has 8 people, including three international olympiad medalists (there's a plot twist: the founder has a gold medal in linguistics).
And they are looking for Founding Engineers — and are open to considering both seniors and new grads. However, the less experience, the stronger other achievements should be. **
As is common with founding roles, instead of strict requirements, there are more like signals. You don't need to have them all at once, but at least one from the list will significantly increase your chances of a match: ** 🏆 Olympiads: **from IOI to the international linguistics olympiad.
🌱 Builders: you built **things for fun — pet projects, startups, hackathons;
🔬 Research: **background in ML/RL, experience with LLM systems. This is slightly more important if you are experienced; if you are a new grad, it can be without.
➡️Regarding the tech stack — it's great if you understand Python, Docker, Linux, React (the agents are browser-based, after all), and it's even better if you have experience with evals and agentic systems.
Salary ranges: depend on location and experience. A new grad remotely can expect **~$100k, **a middle in SF can expect **$200k+ **cash and a total of up to $400k-500k, really cool candidates will get up to $300k in cash.
You can work remotely from Europe, or you can move to a hub in SF or Singapore — HUD will help with O-1 visas.
Write to Nar @a_nro yourself — or send your agent, we don't mind 🦞
