Embedded Linux System Developer for Smart Devices

We believe the future lies in voice control. It was this idea that inspired us to create Alice and the first device based on it — Yandex Station.

We already have a whole ecosystem of devices for voice control of the digital and physical world. Our plans include creating new types of devices and developing new generations of everyone's favorite Stations with Alice.

What tasks await you

Participation in the development of new company devices Yandex has gathered all the competencies needed to create complex electronic devices, such as smart speakers and TVs: we have industrial designers, mechanical engineers, hardware engineers, and developers. Our team develops system software for all devices, interacting with engineers and application developers.

Development from scratch and modification of existing Linux drivers and U-Boot drivers You will actively write code for the Linux kernel: for audio and video subsystems, for various sensors and controllers, and develop connectivity interfaces. You will also write code for U-Boot and even some trusted applications for Arm TrustZone.

Development for microcontrollers and DSPs Some devices use microcontrollers and digital signal processors, the code for which is also written by our team.

We expect you to

• Know how to write code
• Be proficient in C or C++, have written code in Python and Bash
• Have experience developing at the U-Boot and Linux kernel level — writing and modifying drivers
• Be proficient in any of the build systems for Embedded Linux (Buildroot, Yocto) or AOSP

Will be a plus

• Understand the architecture of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth stacks in Linux
• Know the architecture of ASoC
• Have developed firmware based on AOSP
