SberHealth is an accredited IT company and one of the largest Digital Health platforms in Russia.
We are developing a new direction of AI-native products: a new mobile application, an AI assistant, a personalized risk profile, and services that help users better understand their health and next steps.
We are looking for a Middle / Senior Python Backend Developer. The main focus of the role is backend services, API, integrations, working with user data, and the production environment for AI scenarios.
This is not an ML Engineer role or research. We expect strong backend engineering from a Python developer: FastAPI, Pydantic, PostgreSQL, Redis, integrations, reliability, security, observability, and the ability to work in a cross-functional team alongside ML, Mobile, Frontend/PWA, QA, SA, and Product.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Develop and design backend services in Python / FastAPI.
- Design and maintain REST APIs for the mobile application, PWA, risk profile, and AI assistant.
- Describe and maintain API contracts: request/response schemas, validation, error model, versioning.
- Work with Pydantic, PostgreSQL, Redis, and, if necessary, S3-compatible storage.
- Integrate with the AI/ML layer: n8n prototypes, FastAPI/FastMCP services, LLM API, RAG/context, Qdrant, traces.
- Build observability: structured logs, trace/request id, metrics, dashboards, error tracking.
- Write maintainable code, cover critical logic with tests, participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
Required Technical Skills:
- Backend development experience in Python for at least 3 years.
- Strong foundation in web technologies: HTTP, containers, storage, web servers.
- Practical experience developing production APIs with FastAPI, Django, Flask, or a similar backend framework; FastAPI will be a strong plus.
- Confident command of Python.
- Common sense in using AI agents.
- Good understanding of PostgreSQL: schemas, relationships, indexes, transactions, migrations, query profiling.
- Experience in designing REST APIs and the ability to negotiate contracts with mobile/frontend/SA/QA.
- Experience with microservices.
- Ability to write tests for critical backend logic.
- Readiness to work in a product team where requirements change rapidly, and the API affects mobile, PWA, and AI scenarios.
Will Be a Plus
- It would be great if you have experience with queues: Kafka/RabbitMQ, prepared Celery tasks.
- Have an understanding of where the responsibility of AI/ML lies and where a classic Python service belongs.
- Are up-to-date with AI/ML tools and approaches.
- Experience in MedTech, HealthTech, FinTech, or another domain with sensitive data.

- understands the product scenario and can clarify requirements;
- thinks in terms of contracts, states, errors, and edge cases;
- can build reliable integrations with backend, mobile, PWA, and AI layers;
- writes code that can be maintained after MVP;
- does not lose speed due to perfectionism but understands where quality cannot be compromised;
- can work with logs, trace IDs, and production incidents;
- handles medical and personal data with care.
