Backend Developer (Python/Golang)

Selectel Cloud is a huge set of microservices and subsystems, the coordinated work of which allows managing virtual machines, Kubernetes clusters, databases, and connecting them with networks.

The core of the cloud is virtual machines, disks, and networks. These are the basic components that our clients use directly and from which we build our own PaaS services.

The Cloud Network Functions team is a cross-functional team that develops and supports services for managing networks, virtual routers, and load balancers. We develop the entire direction of network function virtualization ourselves, from Open vSwitch to the control panel.

Now we are looking for a Backend Developer who will create new network capabilities for the cloud platform with us. Being part of our team means working consciously, not being afraid to ask colleagues for help, and being ready to help yourself.

And also - to develop the Selectel cloud based on OpenStack, one of the largest in Russia.

Main Tasks

• Develop network services in Python and Golang, such as DNS-as-a-service, high-performance load balancers, etc.
• Update Openstack network components (octavia, neutron), write patches, fix bugs in upstream
• Review code, write unit and functional tests
• Conduct research, design the architecture of new components

We Expect

• Good knowledge of Python (Flask, SQLAlchemy, Celery, Oslo, Taskflow) and others specific to OpenStack
• Experience working with both small microservices and large monolithic projects
• Knowledge of network technologies, their capabilities and limitations: understand the difference between VLAN and VXLAN, how traffic routing works, what BGP is, and be able to capture and analyze tcpdump
• Experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL/ClickHouse, RabbitMQ, Redis
• Experience in designing APIs and application architecture, including microservice architecture
• Experience working with Linux OS family, meaning it should not be a problem for you to write a bash script, "grep" logs, exit Vim, configure IP addresses and network interfaces
• Experience and understanding of CI/CD and IaC principles: we use GitlabCI, Puppet, Jenkins
