Vacancy: Middle+/Fullstack Developer (Backend-Oriented)
Stack: Node.js / NestJS / PostgreSQL / Next.js (React)
Budget: up to $2500 (negotiable after interview)
About the project: We are developing an ecosystem for trading. We have a client portal, an admin panel, and integrations with trading platforms and payment gateways. We are looking for a reliable developer who loves the backend and knows how to work with data.
What you will be doing (your actual tasks for the first 2-3 months):
- Developing the backend on NestJS: writing REST APIs, processing webhooks from payment systems, ensuring request idempotency.
- Fixing what has been heavily "vibed" (aka "nailing it") (Note - "vibecoders" are not considered for this vacancy).
- Working with PostgreSQL (mandatory, as there's been some "nailing it" here too).
- Integrating external APIs: working with retries, request limits, error handling.
- Maintaining and developing the frontend on Next.js/React (client portal, forms) for about 20-30% of the time.
- Writing clear, typed code covered with basic tests.
What we expect from you (Must have):
- 2.5 – 4 years of commercial development experience in Node.js
- Solid knowledge of NestJS (understanding DI, middleware, guards, error handling).
- Good knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL
- Experience with ORMs (TypeORM, Prisma, or similar), but with an understanding of what SQL is generated and when to bypass the ORM.
- Versioned DB migrations: Liquibase, Flyway, or SQL migrations with rollbacks. Must understand safe migrations on a live database: zero-downtime, backfill, locking.
- CI/CD: GitHub Actions or GitLab CI. Building, tests, linters, deployment, working with secrets and environments.
- Testing: Jest/Vitest, unit and integration tests; e2e (Playwright) will be a plus.
- Git flow as a habit: feature branches, PRs, reviews, meaningful commits.
Will be a big plus
- Experience in fintech, trading, brokerage, or payment systems (MetaTrader, MatchTrader, B2Broker, PSP).
- PostgreSQL in high availability mode: replication, failover, backups, and recovery (PITR).
- Redis, queues (BullMQ / RabbitMQ / Kafka).
What we offer and what we expect in terms of soft skills:
- Independence: ability to take a task from concept to production.
- Clear communication: PR descriptions, documentation, incident analysis.
- Saying "I don't know" or "there's a risk here" before it becomes a problem.
- Opportunity to influence the technical stack and processes.
- Remote work, flexible schedule.
Note - there will be a mandatory test assignment (not abstract, but from a real project).
