Vacancy: Visual Novel Scriptwriter Salary: Piece-rate, by agreement

About the Project:

An indie studio is looking for a scriptwriter to make edits and polish an already finished visual novel script (~16,000 words). The game focuses on detective elements, set in the 2000s. We are currently developing a demo version of the game to get feedback from the audience.

Responsibilities:

• Editing and reworking existing scenes
• Adding new scenes (if necessary): transforming dry synopses and outlines into full-fledged, lively game scenes with detailed dialogues and dynamics.
• Working with characters: conveying the personality, motivation, and inner state of the heroes, avoiding direct authorial explanations.
• Text directing: controlling the scene's pacing. Understanding where to build tension, where to accelerate dynamics, and where to hold a pause.
• Adaptation and research: independently studying lore and missing information about characters.

Requirements:

— Experience writing scripts for games, visual novels, or interactive stories. — Proficient written Russian language. — Ability to write lively and natural dialogues. — Ability to work with branching storylines and player choice consequences. — Understanding of the fundamentals of dramaturgy and plot arc construction. — Responsibility and adherence to agreed-upon deadlines.
