The 'Modeling and Data Research' Department is the center of Data Science expertise within the Sales Network Block. We create and implement E2E solutions based on machine learning and artificial intelligence, which directly impact key business processes and customer experience in Sber branches. To strengthen our strategic RnD direction, we are looking for an experienced leader who will shape the technological agenda and bring advanced AI initiatives to real business impact.
Our research AI team is developing the bank employee's Copilot – a virtual assistant that participates in a dialogue with the customer. Currently, Copilot works for every branch employee: it suggests, searches, corrects errors, and helps conduct the dialogue. Your task will be to expand the functionality and improve the quality of the assistant's work, develop new products, and test promising hypotheses.
Responsibilities
- Strategic leadership of the RnD direction: Searching, evaluating, and implementing new technologies (ML/DL/LLM, agents), shaping the technological vision for AI development in the Block.
- Management of the AI project portfolio: Responsibility for the lifecycle of E2E projects – from analysis of the business problem to industrial implementation into the business process.
- Team leadership: Managing a team of Data Scientists (task assignment, mentoring, competency development, performance evaluation).
- Key communication with customers: Deep immersion into business processes, translating complex technical concepts into the language of business value, estimating labor intensity, and managing expectations.
Requirements
- Experience leading a team of Data Scientists/ML for 2+ years.
- Deep expert background in Data Science: 5+ years of experience with ML/DL/NLP, understanding of the full model development and implementation cycle.
- Proven experience in successfully bringing complex ML/AI solutions to production, including LLM solutions and agents.
- Advanced soft skills: leadership, strategic thinking, ability to negotiate and argue a position convincingly at all management levels.
- Development experience in Python, confident command of the DS/ML stack, experience working with big data (Hadoop/Spark, GreenPlum, SQL).
- Knowledge of project management fundamentals (Agile/Scrum, Waterfall).
