Hi!
We are looking for a Business Analyst.
Location: Worldwide
Rate: We will consider your offer.
About the project
Development of a digital simulation and analytical model of a port-railway complex, including railway infrastructure of liquid and bulk terminals, adjacent stations, public and private tracks, as well as associated warehouse, tank, and ship capacities.
Responsibilities
- Collection, formalization, and approval of requirements for the simulation model with the Client and participants of the technological process;
- Development and maintenance of technical documentation, scenario tables, and model dictionaries;
- Description and modeling of technological processes: train reception/dispatch, car spotting/removal, shunting operations, sorting hump, unloading at berths, accumulation and formation of dispatch routes (POM, consolidated trains, technical routes);
- Analysis of input and output data: wagon flows, wagon turnaround, locomotive and crew utilization, infrastructure loading, identification of bottlenecks;
- Preparation of input data for scenario modeling (historical statistics, design volumes, Russian Railways restrictions);
- Development of model verification and validation criteria, comparison of calculated and actual indicators;
- Participation in the design of the model's data architecture, integration with external information systems (automated process control systems, dispatch logs, wagon accounting systems);
- Formation of analytical reports, optimization recommendations, and measures to achieve design volumes;
- Conducting user sessions, agreeing on assumptions and calculation results with the Client;
- Participation in the preparation of the work program, acceptance stages, and trial operation.
Candidate Requirements
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience as a Business Analyst / Systems Analyst in projects related to railway logistics, port infrastructure, or transport modeling;
- Experience with simulation models (AnyLogic, FlexSim, GPSS, Plant Simulation, or similar) – understanding of agent-based / discrete-event simulation logic;
- Knowledge of the operational technology of railway stations, terminals, sorting humps, shunting operations, car spotting and removal;
- Experience working with regulatory and technological documentation of JSC Russian Railways (PTE, station technological processes, traffic schedules);
- Understanding of port unloading processes (loading racks, car dumpers, grabs, tank farms, stacker equipment, vessel operations);
- Experience in preparing Terms of Reference, functional requirements, user stories.
Knowledge and Skills
- Confident proficiency in Excel / CSV for working with large data sets;
- Skills in building analytical dashboards and reports;
- Understanding of routing principles, hostile routes, signaling system constraints;
- Knowledge of rolling stock types, cargo lots, wagon operators;
- Ability to work with incomplete data, formulate calculation assumptions;
- Skills in conducting interviews with technology experts, dispatchers, and Russian Railways representatives;
- Fluent technical communication, experience in preparing presentations and reports for management.
Will be an advantage
- Experience in projects to optimize the throughput/processing capacity of stations and terminals;
- Knowledge of ASU JT, GID "Ural", ETRAN, DCUP systems or similar;
- Experience in scenario modeling and stress testing of transport systems;
- Higher education in railway transport, logistics, transport engineering, or applied mathematics.
