Project Description:
We are creating a linear shooter with elements of tactics, survival, and semi-open locations out of enthusiasm. Setting: realistic post-apocalypse 100 years later ("new medieval") in the post-CIS region, based on the book series "Technotma". We are actively developing a vertical slice to find a publisher. Locations are semi-open, not an open world.
Vacancy Description:
Tasks (what needs to be done):
- Creating blockouts (Graybox): Designing level geometry, calculating player timings and paths considering shooter and survival mechanics.
- Assembling locations in UE5: Working with assets (placing props), creating atmospheric environments in the post-CIS setting.
- Working with landscapes: Using Landscape and Foliage tools to create semi-open spaces.
- Technical setup: Configuring collisions, triggers, and navigation (NavMesh).
- Designing "lived-in" ruins: Designing locations where nature breaks through concrete, and human structures (made of wood, mud, and fabric) are layered on top of building skeletons.
- Visual storytelling (with narrative designers): Reflecting the daily life of factions through the environment – showing territorial boundaries, trade routes, and traces of centuries of survival history.
- Small locations instead of an open world: Creating small, dense locations with points of interest, dangers, and opportunities for exploration and loot collection.
- Populating points of interest (hubs and outposts) to make them look alive and functional.
Candidate Expectations (Requirements):
- Proficiency in UE5: Confident understanding of the engine's basic tools.
- Sense of space: Ability to guide the player with visual cues (light, composition), avoiding "empty" or confusing areas.
- Interest in the setting: Understanding the aesthetics of post-apocalypse (abandoned places, industrial zones, nature).
- Knowledge of the source material ("Technotma") will be a huge plus.
- Self-organization: Willingness to work on enthusiasm, meet agreed deadlines, and participate in team calls.
- Portfolio: Availability of work samples in UE (level screenshots, videos, or small scenes).
What we offer:
- Enthusiasm for now;
- Strong portfolio case: Work on a project with a book universe and a setting combining new medieval and post-apocalypse.
- We already have groundwork and documentation, we are not at the "just an idea" stage.
- Prospects: Upon receiving funding (e.g., securing a publisher) – transition to paid employment / RevShare.
