Yandex Research ML Residency

The ML Residency program is an opportunity to participate in world-class research in machine learning.

The organizers of the program are Yandex Research, MIPT and HSE University. Residents will be able to work on applied and theoretical research in machine learning, tackle challenging projects, publish at NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, CVPR and other top scientific conferences, and contribute to high-tech services. Program participants will collaborate with colleagues from Yandex, leading global universities, and corporate labs and will be able to take machine learning courses at the School of Data Analysis.

Residents will work alongside Yandex Research scientists, who will act as mentors and supervisors. Together they will choose a problem in computer vision, speech and dialogue systems, natural language processing, or another area of machine learning, and then develop a solution. The results of the work can be scientific publications, implementation in Yandex products, or open-source projects.

What you will do:

• develop technical and theoretical understanding of modern machine learning;
• study machine learning literature and dive deep into the chosen field;
• learn to identify new problems and propose solutions;
• develop academic writing and public speaking skills.

We expect you to be

• a specialist at any level — from a student in machine learning to an experienced researcher from related disciplines, such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, computer science, or linguistics;
• someone with a strong fundamental education, a genuine passion for machine learning, and a desire to change the world for the better.

Working conditions

• MIPT and HSE students can count participation in the ML Residency as their Master's or PhD thesis;
• participation in the program is paid;
• work schedule is discussed individually with each candidate.
